Are you an experienced Clinical Coder looking to take the next step in your career? Limestone Coast Local Health Network (LCLHN) is seeking a dedicated Advanced Clinical Coder to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will contribute to the accuracy and quality of patient care through precise coding and education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately translate medical and procedural terminology into the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10-AM) for statistical analysis, epidemiology, and hospital planning.
- Provide coding auditing and education within the Clinical Coding Service and across Clinical Directorates.
- Ensure high standards of coding quality and deliver relevant training to enhance skills in Clinical Coding.
- Play a crucial role in assigning Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (AR-DRGs), essential for Activity Based Funding and Casemix for inpatients.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ post-training experience with successful completion of the Intermediate HIMAA Clinical Coding Course in ICD-10-AM.
- Coding Expertise: Advanced competency in selecting appropriate codes from the ICD-10-AM code list, adhering to National and State Coding Standards.
- Quality Assurance: Proven ability to code a designated number of complex records daily, maintaining an error rate of less than 10%.
- Autonomy and Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, with a commitment to ongoing education and professional development.
- Analytical Skills: High attention to detail, capable of analysing and interpreting complex patient care episodes.
- Communication Skills: Well-developed written and verbal communication skills to foster professional relationships both internally and externally.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-AM, medical terminology, Clinical Coding practices, and familiarity with relevant coding software such as 3M Encoder.
