About the role:
Reporting to the Manager, this role is responsible for the provision of an effective and efficient service to all Elective and Emergency outpatient clinic patients requiring admission to Flinders Medical Centre, Noarlunga Hospital and Flinders Private Hospital. The Admissions Booking Officer is also responsible for the management and maintenance of the Department of Health (DH) Waiting List, the accurate maintenance of the Operating Room Management Information System (ORMIS) and Sunrise Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Patient Administration System (PAS).
Duties for the role will include:
- Promote and contribute to leading a culture of effective and optimum customer service provision that is customer focused, is culturally appropriate and professional to members of the public and key stakeholders,
- Liaising with clinical staff for the management of patient elective booking, admission, and pre-admission requirements,
- Continually prioritising workloads in high demand area and be adaptable to short notice changes to elective surgery in situations of demand management or State of Emergency,
- Actively maintaining waiting lists by ensuring timely and accurate data entry, up to date deferral entry and prompt removals following removal process,
- Working in close unison with the clinical staff for the benefit of the patient and unit to maintain the active elective waiting list with due consideration to urgency, length of wait, equipment needs, surgeon expertise for procedure, bed availability ICCU (Intensive Care Unit), High Dependency, homewards and theatre availability,
- Interacting with patients both face to face and by telephone regarding all aspects of the Admissions process,
- Liaise with medical/surgical bed managers regarding allocation/availability of beds, patient admissions and discharges
About you:
- Ability to manage daily correspondence and provide accurate and timely data entry and work processing services,
- Ability to liaise with the ward staff and bed manager regarding the allocation of beds for patient admissions,
- Experience in patient related care areas,
- Reception experience,
- Experience working within the health service,
- Experience using patient information management systems for data entry of patient information
