We currently have an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to work in an Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) role, to coordinate the multidisciplinary team to conduct ECT treatments. 

About the role: 

The Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) Neurostimulation Service is one of 4 public sector sites in South Australia that is authorised out the Mental Health Act 2009 to provide Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) to consumers experiencing severe mental illnesses. The service is one of the busiest in South Australia, as the sole ECT provider in the Southern Adelaide Region and the only ECT Service that is co-located within a theatre suite with nearby intensive care facilities. This unique location allows for clients who are at higher medical risk to have their ECT treatments safely facilitated and administered at this site.

Some tasks may include: 

  • Assess individual patient/client needs, plan, implement and/or coordinate appropriate service delivery from a range of accepted options including other disciplines or agencies.
  • Contribute to procedures for effectively dealing with people exhibiting challenging behaviours.
  • The ECT Coordinator is a role that will allow you to influence and lead the day to day running of the suite, ensuring the highest of standards are achieved in all aspects of care.

About you:

  • Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds a current practicing certificate. Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in conducting ECT treatments and coordination of team.
  • Demonstrated competence in Mental Health nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
