About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is responsible for professional clinical anaesthesia and related duties to the inpatients/outpatients of SALHN according to the relevant standards set by ANZCA and SA Health. The positions are viewed as ones which support commencement of training / ongoing training in anaesthesia as a pathway towards the SA & NT Rotational Anaesthesia Training Program
Duties for the role will include:
- Professional clinical services to both inpatients/outpatients,
- Participate in after-hours rosters, on-call and provide anaesthesia and related services during the period,
- Pre and post-anaesthesia care as appropriate,
- Participate in regular review of performance/progress as directed by ANZCA and individual Departments of Anaesthesia,
- Gain the necessary skills and knowledge to provide safe anaesthesia in all areas of anaesthesia to fulfil the training requirements of ANZCA
About you:
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent,
- Registrable with the Medical Board Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration,
- Eligible for registration by ANZCA as anaesthesia trainee. (ie PGY3 or greater) and Registration an ANZCA trainee is an expected condition for commencement of the role,
- A commitment to providing a quality service to patients and their families,
- Prior anaesthesia experience desirable but not mandatory

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as Advanced Trainee will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.
