We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our growing team!

An exciting opportunity to join a new dedicated ward located at Noarlunga Hospital caring for patients of the Older Persons Assessment & Liaison (OPAL) and Residential Care Outreach Team (RCOT). The primary focus of the OPAL/RCOT ward is to provide a geriatrician led service with an efficient, coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to patient care with streamlined discharge planning to an otherwise vulnerable population.  The Senior Occupational Therapist provides specialist consultation and skills related to patients with aged related diagnosis and cognitive impairment, and will also take on leadership duties.  

About the role: 

As the Senior Occupational Therapist, duties for the role will include:

  • Provide specialised clinical Occupational Therapy services to maximise occupational outcomes of patients in the Myles ward
  • Participating in interdisciplinary clinical and planning activities to enhance the overall service provided to clients
  • Collaborating and documenting with team members to initiate, develop, implement and evaluate therapy/activity groups
  • Providing a consultative service to other team members, disciplines and agencies

About you:

  • Demonstrated experience and clinical expertise in the provision of clinical Occupational Therapy services (assessment and treatment) to clients with a range of disorders and disabilities, in particular clients with complex needs and the older person including those with cognitive impairment or a diagnosis of dementia
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical management and leadership within a discrete unit, including program evaluation and service development
  • High levels of responsibility and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines, delegate appropriately.  This includes the ability to supervise students, allied health assistants and junior staff.
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills including the ability to communicate with patient, professional staff of different disciplines, administrative staff and staff of other agencies, both orally and in writing
  • A degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
