About the role
An opportunity exists for a Social Worker (AHP1/AHP2) within the CaFHS Murray and Mallee Team, based in Berri. The role delivers intensive case management and counselling to vulnerable families with children aged 0-3 years experiencing complex adversity, working within a multidisciplinary team to strengthen family coping skills and improve child safety and development outcomes.
Key duties of the role
AHP1 –
- Identifying the health needs and priority issues of parents, children 0-3 years and vulnerable infants accessing the AH.
- Deliver group programs and parent/children capacity building activities for program families
- Maintaining regular contact with allocated families by delivering a home visiting and centre-based contact
- Support and actively participate in a positive culture and safe work environment within the Department.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a service of best practice
AHP2 –
- Contributes to direct service provision for Collaborative Care eligible clients by providing specialist skills in assessment and engagement of families who are experiencing psychosocial adversity
- Takes responsibility for improving the quality of personal practice
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a service of best practice
- Provide timely responses to client needs while maintaining professional service standards, work with CaFHS staff on procedures, communicate urgent issues appropriately, and support service improvements.
Skills and Experience
AHP1 –
- Degree in Social Work eligible for full AASW membership
- Demonstrated experience in counselling and case management with vulnerable families
- Experience working with domestic violence, child abuse, and mental health issues
- Knowledge of attachment theory, child development, and mandatory reporting requirements
- Current driver's licence and ability to work independently with limited supervision
AHP2 -
- Degree in Social Work eligible for full AASW membership
- Proven experience in psychosocial assessment and complex case management with families
- Advanced counselling skills and experience with attachment theory and infant mental health
- Experience providing leadership, supervision and working in multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of child protection legislation, mandatory reporting and domestic violence impacts
