The Mount Gambier & Districts Health Service is looking for a Ward Clerk (Administration Officer) to join our Maternity Ward team on a part-time basis (60 hours per fortnight). If you have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to confidentiality, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide courteous, confidential, and efficient customer service to patients, visitors, and staff via phone or in person.
  • Maintain accurate medical and general records, both electronic and hardcopy, in accordance with relevant policies and legislation.
  • Respond to routine patient inquiries and liaise with internal and external services to coordinate appointments and transport.
  • Assist with administrative duties, including managing ward stock, sorting mail, and coordinating repairs of medical equipment.
  • Support effective communication within the team, ensuring smooth admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in providing administrative services in a customer-focused environment.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, while remaining a valuable team member.
  • Proven experience in conflict resolution and managing high-pressure situations.
  • Computer proficiency, including data entry and medical record management.
  • Knowledge of good customer service principles and clerical procedures.
