Consultant Hepatologist – SA's Tertiary Liver Unit| Balance & Clinical Impact

About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role provides clinical services of the highest possible standard to South Australian Hepatology and Transplant Medicine patients.

Duties for the role will include:

• Providing appropriate specialist level care to patients
• Providing clinical supervision to Senior Medical Practitioners, Trainee Medical Officers and Medical Students
• Participating in programs designed to provide personal growth and development
• Participating in the development of clinical guidelines and protocols
• Participate in and contribute to the academic life of the Department at the direction of the Head of the Department

About you:

• Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award
• Demonstrated high standard of clinical practice in Hepatology
• Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff
• Extensive clinical experience relevant to work in Hepatology and Liver Transplant Medicine

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as Advanced Trainee will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.
