The opportunity

As a Scrub/Scout Nurse, you'll be at the heart of the operating theatre, supporting surgical teams to deliver safe, high-quality care to women, babies, children and young people. You'll join a collaborative Perioperative team within South Australia's leading specialist hospital for paediatric and women's health, working across diverse and rewarding surgical specialties while contributing to outstanding patient outcomes.
 
Key duties of the role
  • Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care, ensuring optimal outcomes for patients and their families throughout the surgical journey
  • Function effectively as a Scrub/Scout Nurse within a multidisciplinary surgical team, supporting a range of paediatric, neonatal, gynaecological and specialist procedures
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists and allied health professionals to deliver evidence-based, patient-centred care
  • Support and contribute to a culture of clinical excellence through continuous learning, professional development and quality improvement activities
  • Mentor and support students, graduates and colleagues, contributing to a positive, collaborative and high-performing team environment

Skills and experience

  • Registered Nurse with current NMBA registration, or eligibility to obtain registration and a practising certificate
  • Demonstrated nursing experience in a perioperative or acute healthcare setting; perioperative and/or paediatric experience is required with a minimum of two years Scrub Scout experience
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to prioritise workload and respond with flexibility, initiative and sound clinical judgement in a dynamic environment
  • Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care and contributing to continuous quality improvement activities
  • Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing and proficiency in using clinical information systems are desirable
