As the Neurosurgery Service Registrar at Flinders Medical Centre, you will deliver high-quality care to patients across the wards, investigational and procedural areas, emergency department, and outpatients.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is responsible to provide day to day supervision and training to the Resident medical officers and Interns and participate in research, journal club and audit projects as required.

Duties for the role will include:

• Commitment to delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the SALHN Integrated Governance Framework and Consumer Engagement Framework and Plan.
• Responsible for attending operating theatre lists as required.
• Ensure effective communication with other care providers to promote continuity of care.
• Assessment and management of surgical patients admitted via emergency department in an appropriate timeframe.
• Promoting where possible the departments research and profile at state, national and international forums.

About you:

• Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor or Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration
• Minimum of 2 years satisfactory experience as an Intern/Resident Medical Officer in a recognised teaching hospital or equivalent.
• Broad clinical experience and competence in the practice of surgery
• Quality management and consumer-oriented service
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide of people including colleagues and other professional staff.
