Overview

SA Health's Eyre and Far North Local Health Network (EFNLHN) is seeking a dedicated Aboriginal Community Engagement Development Officer to strengthen connections between health services and Aboriginal communities across Port Lincoln, Coober Pedy and Ceduna. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply for this role.

What You'll Be Doing

Reporting to the Director of Aboriginal Health, you will lead meaningful community engagement and drive practical improvements in Aboriginal health outcomes across the Eyre and Far North region. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Developing and implementing consultation and community engagement strategies with local Aboriginal organisations across EFNLHN
• Building cultural competency across health teams and supporting best-practice, holistic approaches to community wellbeing
• Coordinating recruitment, retention and workforce development initiatives for Aboriginal staff
• Supporting health teams and committees to strengthen relationships with Aboriginal communities in addressing identified health and wellbeing issues

What You'll Bring

• Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities in a community engagement or health-related context
• Experience in project or program management, including planning, implementation and evaluation
• Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, the principles of self-determination, and social determinants of health
• Familiarity with Commonwealth, state and regional Workforce, Community Engagement and Cultural Learning Frameworks relevant to EFNLHN's operating environment
• Proven ability to liaise across public, private and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, as well as intersecting sectors such as housing and education
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work with initiative under broad guidelines
