About the Role:
Modbury Hospital is looking for a Service Registered Medical Officer with General Registration to join the Northern Adelaide Geriatric Service (NAGS) on a full-time, long-term contract through to 6 March 2027. This is a genuine opportunity to build specialist-level experience in geriatric medicine within one of South Australia's largest public health networks, supported by a multidisciplinary team genuinely committed to older people's health and wellbeing.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing high-quality inpatient medical care to older patients across the Northern Adelaide Geriatric Service at Modbury Hospital
- Conducting thorough assessments, developing management plans, and coordinating care in collaboration with nursing, allied health, and specialist medical staff
- Participating in ward rounds, case conferences, and discharge planning to support timely, patient-centred outcomes
- Contributing to after-hours on-call responsibilities as rostered within the NALHN medical workforce model
What You'll Bring
- General registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated clinical experience in an acute hospital setting, with exposure to general medicine or aged care preferred
- Sound clinical reasoning and the ability to manage complex, multi-morbid presentations with appropriate senior support
- Clear and effective communication with patients, families, and the broader care team
- Familiarity with SA Health or similar public health system documentation and governance expectations
- A commitment to culturally safe, person-centred care for older adults
As per the SA Health Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2025, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12 month allocation as Medical Practitioner will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.
To be eligible for this position, you must have a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.
The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.
