Please note that this position is multi-classified as either a WHD3 or WHD4, with classification determined according to the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience.

About The Role

Join our team as a Direct Care Worker – Residential and make a meaningful difference to the lives of residents at Naracoorte Health Service.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team and under the supervision of nursing staff, you will provide compassionate, person-centred care and support to residents with their daily needs. This may include personal care, hygiene and grooming, mobility and transfers, continence support, maintaining a clean and comfortable environment, and completing relevant documentation.

You will contribute to resident wellbeing, recognise and report changes or concerns, and support the delivery of safe, respectful and individualised care within Moreton Bay House.

You communicate well, work effectively as part of a team and bring a flexible approach to your work, with a genuine commitment to providing safe, kind and person-centred care.

To succeed in the Direct Care Worker – Residential role, you will:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing quality, compassionate and person-centred care that responds to the individual needs of residents.
  • Have effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work respectfully with residents, families and people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Be reliable, flexible and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and under appropriate supervision.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality, safe work practices and the importance of maintaining residents’ dignity and wellbeing.
  • For appointment at the WHD4 level, hold a completed AQF Certificate III relevant to the position, together with relevant experience providing direct care within a health-related field.

About Naracoorte Health Service

Naracoorte Health Service provides a wide range of healthcare services to the local and surrounding South East community. The facility has 80 beds, comprising 39 acute beds and 41 high-level residential aged care beds, as well as day surgery and chemotherapy services.

Services include accident and emergency, medical, surgical, paediatrics, obstetrics, palliative care, day surgery, chemotherapy and high-level residential aged care through Moreton Bay House. Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team supported by locally based medical services, visiting specialists and allied health professionals.
