Join our Residential and Clinical Outreach Team!

Contribute to the wellbeing of residents of the Woolshed therapeutic community by providing support on evening and weekend shifts as required. 

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager of the Woolshed Program, this role is integral to contributing to the well-being of residents of the Woolshed therapeutic community by providing administrative, case management, and clinical support during normal business hours, evenings, and weekend shifts.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Build and maintain therapeutic relationships with residents and their support networks, role modelling recovery values in individual and group settings
  • Uphold and promote Woolshed Therapeutic Community principles in line with the staff manual and Australasian Therapeutic Community Essential Elements, including the residents' Bill of Rights
  • Facilitate peer support discussions, SMART Recovery meetings and conversations about community support pathways (NA/AA and SMART Recovery), drawing on lived experience
  • Lead craft, art, music and diversionary activities, and support recovery-based social activities on and off site
  • Provide case management support including referrals, advocacy, correspondence, transport to appointments and resident meeting oversight
  • Deliver reception, administrative and clerical support, maintain accurate client records and contribute to written and verbal progress reporting
  • Collaborate with clinical staff and peer colleagues to evaluate and improve program quality, support resource development and coordinate resident work projects
  • Engage in supervision, mandatory training and professional development, and assist in orienting new peer staff

About you:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain close interaction with clients.
  • Insight, compassion, and skills gained through exposure to drug or alcohol problems.
  • Ability to live and portray a positive role model for clients as a person of sober habits, consistent behaviour, and reasonable judgement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under limited direction and to set priorities in day-to-day work.
  • Ability to communicate both written and orally and negotiate effectively with a diverse range of people and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to be flexible in approach and problem solve effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to deal effectively with emotionally upset individuals.
