About the role

The Child Development Unit Coordinator functions as an experienced clinician within an interdisciplinary team in the assessment of and intervention planning for children who present with diverse and complex developmental issues, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Key duties of the role

• Plan, coordinate and oversee a high-quality multi-disciplinary assessment service for children presenting with complex developmental concerns
• Provide support, counselling, information and advice to parents/caregivers for children and young people who have been referred to the Child Development Unit and are waiting for their differential assessment
• Provides information and support to parents, caregivers, referrers, and community members regarding assessment pathways, funding options, and intervention services for children and young people, while ensuring culturally responsive service delivery
• Contributes to the effective and professional functioning of the Child Development Unit by promoting a positive, collaborative, and supportive multidisciplinary team environment
• Maintains and develops clinical and professional skills while contributing to the delivery of training and education

Skills and Experience

• Relevant degree qualification in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, or Speech Pathology with professional registration/membership eligibility
• Current registration with AHPRA or relevant professional body (e.g., Speech Pathology Australia)
• Demonstrated experience working with children with developmental delay, disability, and their families
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams, including community or hospital-based services
• Demonstrated skills in case coordination, communication, and managing complex clinical workloads
