About the role

As an Aboriginal Project Officer (Communications), you will work alongside communities and partners to improve culturally safe maternity care, strengthen continuity of care and support better outcomes for Aboriginal women and families – making a real difference for Aboriginal Families across SA.

Key duties of the role

• Establish scope, deliverables, timeframes and desired outcomes for each project whilst monitoring performance and advising as required.
• Contribute to the development of recommendations relating to culturally responsive service delivery, workforce sustainability and future funding opportunities.
• Liaise, consult and engage in a culturally safe and respectful manner with Aboriginal communities, individuals, families, ACCHOs and agencies.
• Assist in identifying suitable partnerships and liaising with other agencies to assist the development of WCHN Services
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, managers and other key internal stakeholders within the service and directorate, public and private sectors through the use of effective consultation, networking and liaison

Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated ability to engage and build effective relationships with Aboriginal communities and organisations.
• Proven experience in developing and planning complex and significant project work to achieve outcomes in a timely manner
• Knowledge of Aboriginal health priorities and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal women, children and families.
• Understanding of the impact of colonisation, racism and social determinants on Aboriginal health and wellbeing.
