Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner Neurological Rehabilitation — Shape Rehabilitation at Flinders Medical Centre

This part-time ongoing role at Flinders Medical Centre places you at the forefront of complex neurological rehabilitation within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network. About the role: 

Reporting to the Director, this role is responsible for developing and providing an expert Physiotherapy service to clients and Clinical Leadership in Neurological Physiotherapy to the RAP services across; inpatient, ambulatory programs including Home Rehab and Day Rehabilitation Service, and transitional program (VITA TCP), and Ambulatory Rehabilitation Neurology Clinics (ARNC). 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Developing a specialised physiotherapy service to patients in the area of neurological physiotherapy across RAP rehabilitation and CHSA by initiating, formulating, and applying to clinical practice the physiotherapy management for this area without direct clinical supervision,
  • Maintaining and updating clinical knowledge and skills in the area of neurological physiotherapy across RAP rehabilitation programs and CHSA, and where appropriate develop and institute new methods,
  • Providing clinical resource information to the development and achievement of the strategic directions of the ANRC, RAP and CHSA; to other health professionals, areas and regions as the lead service in this area in South Australia,
  • Attending Country Health SA sites with senior medical consultants to advise on best practice approaches to rehabilitation, and monitor progress on subsequent visits; by undertaking assessment of complex patients

About you:

  • A Degree or other qualification which entitles registration as a Physiotherapist with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia,
  • Ability to manage complex neurological patients with demonstrated highly developed Physiotherapy skills,
  • Ability to supervise staff, and plan and deliver training to others,
  • Ability to evaluate programs,
  • Level of fitness sufficient to undertake manual handling of patients,
  • Ability to competently complete RAP pool rescue protocol,
  • Proven experience in providing neurological physiotherapy interventions for patients/clients
  • Previous clinical experience in neurological physiotherapy in; general and rehabilitation health environments
