About the role: 

The Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) is a leading provider of Healthcare Services across multiple healthcare facilities including Flinders Medical Centre and Noarlunga Health Services. Our Physiotherapist Service is integral in our aim to optimise healthcare outcomes for patients in our community. 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Provide high level PT assessment of patients referred to the allocated work areas, that enable appropriate PT interventions, including discharge planning
  • Provide high level PT intervention and management plans, including functional rehabilitation, exercise prescription, gait re-education, the prescription of appropriate mobility, transfer and respiratory aids and patient family/carer self management strategies.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation of assessments, intervention and patient management plans 
  • Work with the relevant Senior Physiotherapist for the work area to identify opportunities to further develop the role of Physiotherapy within the work area
  • Work with the work area supervisor to monitor workloads and clinical outcomes
  • Contribute to the strategic planning for physiotherapy services across relevant work areas, incorporating regular evaluation of services and reporting on quality improvement activities
  • Manage allocated caseload, and where appropriate seeking assistance from the relevant supervisor
  • Actively engaging patients and carers in developing and implementing their care plans and discharge arrangements

About you:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
  • Clinical experience working in an acute health care setting
  • Physiotherapy skills in the assessment and management of patients with a broad range of conditions relevant to SALHN and the Physiotherapy Department
  • Well developed and effective written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to relate to people of various ages, cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to effectively prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Effective problem solving skills

Please note that this position is multi-classed as either a AHP1 or AHP2 and classification will be determined by qualifications and experience.
