About the role

The Clinician provides expert clinical care, leadership, and coordination to support high-quality patient outcomes within a specialised perinatal and infant mental health community outpatient setting. The role provides clinical expertise, supports evidence-based practice, and ensures effective care delivery through autonomous decision-making and professional accountability.

Key duties of the role

• Provide direct, expert clinical perinatal and infant mental health care, select and implement different therapeutic interventions, provide individual case management to a defined population of patients/clients and evaluate progress.
• Provide expert clinical knowledge and experience to provide pivotal coordination of the team/service.
• Hold a contemporary professional practice portfolio containing evidence of postgraduate qualifications, learning and practice experience that underpin a demonstrable application of knowledge and skills commensurate with the level and type of practice expected of the role.
• The role contributes to research, evaluation, and evidence-based practice initiatives to improve clinical services, enhance patient outcomes, and support continuous improvement in healthcare delivery.
• The role provides clinical leadership, mentorship, and professional guidance while supporting the delivery of best practice, multidisciplinary collaboration, and continuous improvement in care and treatment practices.

Skills and Experience

• Relevant degree qualification in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, or Social Work with eligibility for professional registration/membership
• Current registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, Psychology Board of Australia, or AASW membership eligibility)
• Approved supervisor status with the Psychology Board of Australia (where applicable)
• Minimum three years post-registration clinical experience in mental health practice and hold a reconsidered mental health qualification (Nursing only)
• Demonstrated experience in providing specialist perinatal and infant mental health care within a multidisciplinary setting
