This is an opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to step into a clinical leadership role that directly shapes the quality and direction of Women and Children's services. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and person and family-centred Physiotherapy care for women, children, and families.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Allied Health Manager, this role is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership of a high-quality, evidence-based Physiotherapy services within the Women’s and Children’s Division.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Oversee and coordinate day to day team function and workloads of allocated clinical team.
  • Ensure that service provision and the activities of the Physiotherapy service are person and family centred and professionally and effectively conducted by contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers.
  • Engage patients and their families or carers actively in care planning and goal setting to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Apply advanced Physiotherapy knowledge and skills specifically in the field of Women’s Health and / or Paediatrics / Child Development to provide specialised care including assessment, management, therapy, and discharge planning. Take responsibility for managing complex clinical cases within this domain, either as the primary therapist or as a clinical consultant supporting other staff.
  • Provide expert clinical advisory/consultancy in Women’s Health and / or Paediatric Physiotherapy to clinical team members, hospital staff, and to external service providers across SA and interstate as needed. 
  • Guide, teach, and evaluate Physiotherapy students, and allied health support staff in Women’s Health and Paediatrics
  • Develop, implement, and review clinical policies, procedures, and guidelines for Physiotherapy, presenting them to SALHN teams as needed. 
  • Leading the selection, recruitment and orientation of staff in liaison with the AH Service Manager
  • Actively participate in team activities and contribute to building a positive team culture aligned with the Women’s & Children’s Allied Health Team Charter, SALHN vision, and strategic plan.​ 

About you:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which give eligibility for full membership of the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
  • Extensive experience in Women’s Health and/ or Paediatric Physiotherapy providing input at a senior clinician level.
  • Expertise in managing complex clinical situations independently.
  • Substantial experience supervising staff or students.
  • Proven ability to lead service improvement and quality evaluation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and ability to supervise, solve problems, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, consultation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships with diverse clients and stakeholders.
  • High-level verbal and written communication skills, including timely and accurate report preparation.
