About The Role

Applications are now open for the annual intake of PGY2+ Resident Medical Officers, with multiple positions available across Mount Gambier & Districts Health Service. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive regional health service where you'll gain broad clinical experience through a variety of rotations while working alongside experienced Consultants, Registrars and multidisciplinary teams. You'll provide high-quality patient care, contribute to continuous quality improvement, and further develop your clinical skills in an environment committed to education, collaboration and professional growth.

About You

You are an enthusiastic and compassionate Medical Practitioner looking to build your career within a supportive regional health service. You enjoy working collaboratively, are committed to delivering excellent patient care, and are eager to expand your clinical experience across a diverse range of specialties.

To succeed in the Resident Medical Officer role, you will:

  • Hold current General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)*.
    *Applicants must be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration, Interns are welcome to apply upon satisfactory completion of their 12-month Internship.
  • Have successfully completed an accredited internship (PGY2 or above).
  • Demonstrate sound clinical knowledge, judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and communicate confidently with patients, families and colleagues.
  • Hold full Australian working rights.

About the Resident Medical Officer Program

The Resident Medical Officer Program at Mount Gambier & Districts Health Service offers broad clinical exposure through a range of rotations, providing an excellent foundation for future specialty training. Working alongside experienced Consultants and Registrars, you'll be supported through ongoing supervision, education and professional development while delivering high-quality care to patients across the Limestone Coast.

Conditions of Employment

  • A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) for employment involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position.
  • A current Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required.
  • Current General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) is essential.
