An exceptional opportunity to advance your career in specialised cancer care. Working within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, you will provide expert physiotherapy services to patients throughout their cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment and recovery.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Physiotherapy Manager, this role is responsible for the clinical care of patients within different cancer-related streams at FMC Acute. 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Undertake complex patient assessments, interventions and reviews as a specialist practitioner cancer care and assisting junior staff with complex patient/clinical issues
  • Supporting staff to manage complex clinical caseload responsibilities.  These include assessment and management of complex patients, acute rehabilitation and discharge planning. Where appropriate, liaison with community services, provision of education and information to family/carers/significant others will be undertaken to achieve patient goals.
  • Actively involving participation of patients and their families/ carers  in their assessment and treatment, to enable them to achieve the optimal level of independence
  • Supervising and providing education to AHP2, AHP1, AHA staff and students on placement with respect to assessment and treatment procedures to ensure high quality and timely service delivery
  • Actively participating and contributing to strategic planning meetings in the Physiotherapy department, and other divisions to ensure effective communication and the development of appropriate services.
  • Providing consultancy on best practice Physiotherapy approaches to care of patient with cancer in the acute (inpatient / outpatient) setting (eg in redesigning care initiatives, state and national program implementation workgroups)

About you:

  • Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
  • Proven experience in basic computing skills, including email and word processing
  • Experience as a senior clinician in managing patients with cancer in acute care
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise staff, prioritise workloads for self and others
  • Physical strength, flexibility and endurance sufficient for the manual handling requirements of the Physiotherapy Work Unit and out of hours work
