About the role

The Manager - Biomedical Engineering leads strategic and operational management of biomedical engineering services across WCHN, ensuring safety and compliance of medical technology used for patient care. You will manage Biomedical Engineering programs, allocate resources, and represent WCHN on national committees while providing expert guidance on biomedical technologies.

Key duties of the role

  • Determine, prioritise, lead and manage statewide WCHN biomedical engineering strategies, service delivery programs and mechanisms to meet current and future clinical demands within departmental corporate goals and discipline standards.
  • Lead professional development and regular revision of nominated service levels.
  • Implement WCHN BME department objectives, priorities, key performance indicators and operational plans across the assigned region to achieve expected biomedical engineering and clinical outcomes.
  • Deliver authoritative specialist consultancy services to BME, SA Health, private industry, educational sector and state, federal and international government departments on biomedical engineering matters and competency standards.

Skills and Experience

  • Postgraduate qualification with eligibility for full membership in appropriate professional body.
  • Extensive biomedical engineering leadership and management experience in healthcare settings.
  • Proven ability to develop strategic programs, manage resources and deliver outcomes independently.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and team leadership skills across multi-site operations.
  • Authoritative knowledge of biomedical devices, codes of practice and legislative requirements.
