About the role

The Speech Pathologist will encourage and support teamwork among staff, promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement for optimal client service outcomes. The Speech Pathologist is responsible for ensuring the continuum of care for clients into the community is seamless.

Key duties of the role-

AHP1 -

  • Conduct timely, high-quality patient assessments using standardised outcome measures and comprehensive documentation
  • Apply evidence-based management techniques aligned with current speech pathology clinical guidelines
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with Allied Health staff for comprehensive client consultation and care coordination
  • A team environment which promotes positivity, learning and development, safety and welfare of employees, acknowledges cultural and personal differences and encourages creativity and innovations.
  • Contribute to reviewing practices, guidelines, protocols and to continuous improvement to referral and communication

AHP2 -

  • Deliver high quality therapy services to children with feeding and or communication needs and their families
  • Develop, implement and review relevant speech pathology policies and procedures and work practices
  • Ensure appropriate data collection is developed to reflect activity and effectiveness of the speech pathology work service
  • Develop and promote the profession and provide a learning environment for students, colleagues and the WCHN community

Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Speech Pathology and Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia
  • Clinical experience in paediatric speech pathology services, including dysphagia management
  • Proven ability to work independently under pressure while managing competing priorities
  • Strong multidisciplinary teamwork and clinical leadership capabilities
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, research, and ongoing professional development
