Behind the Scenes Healthcare Hero - Sterilisation Technician Wanted

About the role: 

Reporting to the Nurse Manager, this role is responsible for a high standard of work, providing a timely efficient and effective general service and undertaking duties in a range of activities in areas as described in this duty statement.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Sorting, decontaminating, inspecting, and packing of reusable medical devices prior to sterilisation,
  • Using a range of equipment including ultrasonic units, washer- disinfectors, heat sealers, low temperature sterilisers and steam sterilisers,
  • Inspecting sterilised devices upon release of loads and verification of cycle parameters,
  • Transporting and managing sterile stock to ensure sterility is not compromised
  • Completing documentation and statistical data,
  • Undertaking training as required and maintaining required skills and knowledge applicable to the role

About you:

  • Completion of AQF Certificate III in Sterilisation Services or equivalent and at least 500 hours of satisfactory in-service experience within a sterilisation department,
  • Ability to interpret complex instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to utilise computer and word processing skills to prepare and maintain documents and records.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to cooperate with staff at all levels.
  • Experience working well as an individual or a team member in a multi-disciplinary team environment,
  • Experience in the setup, program and operation of complex machinery, equipment and/or facilities and recording systems including computerised systems
