As per the SMOEA 2025, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-months allocation as WCHN Fellow Paediatric Medicine will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.

About the role

The Fellow in Paediatric Medicine contributes to the delivery of high-quality inpatient and outpatient paediatric services across WCHN, including participation in on call services. The role provides opportunities to prepare for consultant practice while supporting advanced training objectives, research, teaching and trainee development across the department.

Key duties of the role

• Deliver inpatient, outpatient and emergency paediatric care, including participation in on call services.
• Support care coordination, investigations, procedures and multidisciplinary patient management.
• Provide leadership, mentoring and supervision to trainee medical officers across all training levels.
• Assist with departmental teaching, FRACP clinical exam preparation and continuing education activities.
• Participate in research, clinical audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives.

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) or equivalent and eligible for Medical Board of Australia registration.
• Minimum 4 years postgraduate experience in a recognised teaching hospital, including advanced trainee experience.
• Completion of required basic training and satisfactory progress in relevant specialist college requirements.
• Strong clinical, communication, leadership and problem-solving skills within multidisciplinary environments.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching, patient-centred care, research and continuous improvement.
