    About the role

    Delivers nursing/midwifery care across diverse settings, progressing from competent to proficient practice. Accountable for clinical standards, delegated care, and mentoring staff. Supports unit leadership by promoting continuity of care, implementing practice improvements, and assisting with staffing, rostering, performance, and resource management. Work with and support the NUM and the Scrub Scout management team 

    Key duties of the role

    • Drive the service provision and ensure the activities of the Division are customer focussed and professionally and effectively conducted
    • Promote continuity and consistency of care in collaboration with the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager or equivalent of the ward/unit/service
    • Provide shift by shift leadership in the provision of nursing/midwifery care within a team or unit and facilitate patient flow
    • Act as a resource person within an area based on knowledge, experience and skills.
    • Monitor patient/client care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes are achieved on a daily basis

    Skills and Experience

    • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate
    • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical Nurse/Midwife
    • Demonstrated competence in perioperative (Scrub Scout) nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice
    • Experience in problem solving , negotiation and conflict management
    • Experience in the supervision of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
