About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is responsible for the provision of high-quality care to patients in the wards, investigations and procedural areas, Emergency Department and Outpatients.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Providing appropriate clinical care to patients
  • Coordinating the follow up care of patients
  • Providing appropriate direction and supervision to junior registrars, resident medical officers and interns
  • Ensuring the maintenance of comprehensive clinical records which document significant patient management decisions
  • Generating weekly rosters for elective and acute registrar duties. 
  • Scheduling elective theatre cases in partnership with the Admissions Office.
  • Attending and participating in clinical and departmental meetings
  • Attending conferences to maintain and enhance knowledge
  • Working harmoniously with all members of the clinical team. Being responsive to the expectations and needs of both clinical and non-clinical colleagues
  • Ensuring that patients and families are given adequate information upon which to base treatment decisions and follow up

About you:

  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • Registerable with the Medical Board Australia (AHPRA)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including colleagues and other professional staff.
  • A commitment to providing a quality service to patients and their families.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to supervise junior medical staff.
  • Appropriate time management skills/punctuality.

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as Advanced Trainee will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.
