    • AHA1/2 - $33.57 per hour + 25% casual loading* | AHA3 - $35.93 to $38.29 per hour + 25% casual loading

*This role attracts a fixed allowance that ensures a minimum salary equivalent to AHA2 (third increment) prorated, based on the Undertaking as within the Allied Health Professionals, Assistants and Psychologists Enterprise Agreement 2025.

Are you enrolled to study podiatry, speech pathology, occupational therapy or physiotherapy? If so, this is the program you've been waiting for!

The Yorke and Northern Local Health Network (YNLHN) Allied Health Cadetship program offers paid allied health assistant employment to students studying an undergraduate or masters in the above allied health professions.

The cadetship is expanding in 2026 with YNLHN increasing intake from 4 to 8 cadets into the program.

The overall aim of the program is to:

  • Provide an allied health education and workforce pathway for local students and job seekers to improve recruitment and retention of staff in the network
  • Provide reliable high quality allied health services for the YNLHN community

This opportunity is best suited to candidates who meet the essential criteria outlined below:

  • Qualifications & Experience – must be enrolled in an Allied Health undergraduate or masters degree in speech pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy or podiatry
  • Skills & Abilities – Exceptional communication skills, compassionate nature, value teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks, work independently or within a team with minimal supervision and adapt to change
  • Clinical Awareness – Ability to take direction from allied health professionals to recognise patient progress or deterioration, take appropriate action, and provide accurate handovers
  • Professionalism & Commitment – Reliability, confidentiality, and a commitment to ongoing learning, workplace safety, and ethical patient care.

For the cadetship, you will be employed as an AHA1 Allied Health Assistant, AHA2 Allied Health Assistant or AHA3 Allied Health Assistant depending on qualifications and experience. Role Descriptions are attached below.

  • DHS Working With Children Check (WWCC) 
  • DHS National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Check 
  • National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups required for this position (E.g. aged care employment or work involving vulnerable clients)
  • Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A
