Take the next step in your career as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in our Surgery and Perioperative Division!

This Senior Clinical Psychologist position is based within the Pain Management Unit at Flinders Medical Centre, where you will specialise in psychology services for individuals with chronic pain and their families. Working as part of a comprehensive multidisciplinary team including physicians, psychiatrists, physiotherapists and nurses, you will conduct assessments, design intervention programs, and provide both individual and group therapy services. The role extends beyond direct patient care to encompass clinical leadership responsibilities, including mentoring junior psychologists, contributing to service planning and evaluation, and supporting research and quality improvement activities.

About the role:  

  • Manage the referral and triage system for PMU psychological services to ensure patients receive appropriate services
  • Monitor psychology services to identify clinical risks, emerging trends and opportunities for service improvement and development
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation while ensuring compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to provide expert advice on psychosocial care and develop integrated treatment approaches

About you:  

  • Ability to independently design, implement and evaluate complex psychological interventions including individual, group and family therapy approaches
  • Proven experience in managing professional staff and trainees through line management, performance review and clinical supervision
  • Strong research capabilities with experience in planning, conducting and evaluating clinical interventions and complex psychological presentations
  • Hold Masters Degree in Clinical or Health Psychology with general registration and endorsed area of practice with the Psychology Board of Australia
