Whyalla Hospital

Whyalla Hospital and Health Services is a large regional hospital comprising of 75 beds including flex beds and a designated High Dependency Unit. The hospital provides a wide range of services, including emergency, medical and surgical, maternity, rehabilitation, mental health, and outpatients. Whyalla Hospital’s Cancer Resource Centre is one of the largest in regional South Australia. It includes six chemotherapy chairs, outpatient care and counselling services, reducing the need to travel outside of the region for care. It is also, one of three stroke services in regional SA, providing specialised treatment for suitable stroke patients 24/7, supported by metropolitan stroke units. Our staff work in close partnership with community health services and Aboriginal health providers, to ensure that optimum care is delivered to all areas of the community. Living and Working in the Flinders and Upper North Region - Whyalla

 

About the Role:

As a Cook, you will ensure the production and distribution of food services are maintained to appropriate standards in an efficient and effective manner. You will be responsible for ordering non-imprest food supplies, supporting menu selections and ensuring meals are prepared and plated to a high standard. In this role, you will contribute to maintaining quality control across food production, ensuring food services meet required standards and are delivered consistently to support the needs of the service.

 

About You:

  • Trade qualifications or trade equivalent skills as a Cook.
  • Previous experience in preparing and cooking bulk meals
  • Experience in the oversight of staff.
  • Experience in preparing and cooking for dietary requirements.
  • Experience in the use of computer packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Proven experience in exercising own judgement and initiative in the day-to-day execution of a position.

Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category B (indirect contact with blood or body substances)
