About the role

The Senior Physiotherapist within the Neurodevelopment/Growth and Development Clinic provides expert neurodevelopmental assessment and intervention for high-risk infants and children, offering specialist consultation, applying standardised tools, and guiding multidisciplinary care and follow-up planning.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide expert neurodevelopmental physiotherapy assessment, management and intervention to infants and children as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team. 
  • Utilise standardised assessment tools in Neurodevelopmental Physiotherapy.
  • Identify babies and children who require further investigation and specialist follow-up.
  • Facilitate early diagnosis and detection of neurodevelopmental and neurological conditions, and pathways to registration with NDIS.
  • Utilise clinical expertise to develop and provide relevant education sessions to staff.

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
  • Completion of Basic Prechtl's Method of the Qualitative Assessment of General Movements training.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the field of neurodevelopmental physiotherapy.
  • Experience in the use of standardised assessment tools used in Neurodevelopmental Physiotherapy.
  • Specialised clinical skills in the evidence-based physiotherapy assessment and management of neurodevelopmental conditions for infants and children.
