Join Our Team as a Cook - Deliver Quality Meals and Support Patient Care

Make a meaningful impact by preparing and distributing nutritious, high-quality meals in a supportive healthcare environment. This role offers the opportunity to develop your culinary skills, contribute to menu planning, and be an integral part of the health unit’s catering team.

About the Role:

As a Cook, you will ensure the production and distribution of meals meets established quality standards in an efficient and effective manner. You will be responsible for ordering non-imprest food supplies, plating meals, managing special diets, and maintaining oversight of catering staff to ensure food service supports the health unit.

You will also contribute to the ongoing development of service processes, provide guidance to team members, and assist with training apprentices as required. Your role will involve using equipment and systems to support service delivery, interpreting instructions and procedures, and participating in the review and improvement of operational guidelines.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Trade qualifications or trade equivalent skills as a Cook.
  • Previous experience in preparing and cooking bulk meals.
  • Experience in the oversight of staff.
  • Experience in preparing and cooking for dietary requirements.
  • Experience in the use of computer packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Proven experience in exercising own judgement and initiative in the day-to-day execution of a position.

This is a part time vacancy, working 64 hours per fortnight and salary will be adjusted according to actual hours worked.
