Integrated Mental Health Inpatient Unit (Whyalla)

Whyalla Hospital is proud to be one of only three regional hospitals in South Australia with an Integrated Mental Health Inpatient Unit (IMHIU). Our unit features six private bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a welcoming, home-like environment, including a comfortably furnished dining and lounge area designed to support recovery and wellbeing. The service includes a full-time psychiatrist, ensuring expert care and bringing significant benefits to mental health consumers across the region. Living and Working in the Flinders and Upper North Region - Whyalla

 

About the Role:

As a Registered Nurse (Mental Health), you will contribute to the delivery of comprehensive, evidence-based and recovery-oriented mental health services within a multidisciplinary Local Health Network Mental Health team. You will support the provision of integrated clinical care to consumers across community, acute and rehabilitation service settings, ensuring services meet the needs of individuals and the local community.

In this role, you will utilise a range of preventative, early intervention, therapeutic and evaluative approaches, including individual and family therapeutic interventions, group programs, health promotion and community development initiatives. You will continue to consolidate your knowledge and skills through professional development and experience, progressing from a novice practitioner toward a proficient level of practice while maintaining accountability for your own standards of nursing care and delegated activities.

 

About You:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Be enrolled and/or willing to enrol in further postgraduate studies within Mental Health practice.
  • Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal consumers.

Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)
