About the role

As the Sonographer Educator, you will lead Point of Care Ultrasound education in the Paediatric Emergency Department through hands‑on training, image review, clinician credentialing, and program development. The Sonographer Educator ensures standards are met to a high-quality, robust quality assurance, and strong collaboration to support safe patient care.

Key duties of the role

  • Ensure that the POCUS training program meets high standards and credentialing requirements.
  • Provide individual scanning sessions to the medical staff.
  • Organise POCUS workshops for both medical and nursing staff.
  • Develop a robust quality control system for the timely assessment of POCUS.
  • Collaborate with teams for potential audits or quality improvement projects.

Skills and Experience

  • Sonographer with DMU or equivalent post-graduate ultrasound qualifications.
  • Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience, including hospital and emergency department settings.
  • Current registration with ASAR as a General or Cardiac Sonographer.
  • Proven experience in delivering high quality and safe care.
  • Knowledge of standard and complex professional tasks in the application of established Ultrasound work practices and procedures.
