WHAT ARE WE OFFERING?

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Barossa Hills Fleurieu LHN Mental Health team and provide specialist psychiatry services across country and regional SA. This temporary backfill position offers the chance to deliver care across inpatient, outpatient, community, and home-based settings, while working with a supportive, multi-disciplinary team.

You will have the opportunity to provide clinical leadership, contribute to service development, and support the research and professional development of staff, all while shaping innovative and sustainable mental health services for country communities.

HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE?

  • Provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment, and consultation across country and regional sites, including via telehealth.
  • Lead clinical teams, mentor staff, and provide guidance in the management of complex cases.
  • Contribute to service planning, quality improvement, and research initiatives to enhance mental health outcomes.
  • Support teaching, training, and professional development of undergraduate students, postgraduate trainees, and mental health clinicians.
  • Ensure compliance with governance, safety, and risk management frameworks across the service.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED TO KNOW/WHAT IS ESSENTIAL FOR SUCCESS?

Working in this environment, it is important to us that we only employ people with the upmost integrity and commitment to serving the South Australian community and its visitors to the highest possible standards. To ensure that we meet that commitment there are a few checks that you will be required to undertake. These are detailed on the Role Description, but are likely to include the following:

  • You will need to be immunised. Please contact the Enquiries Person for this position if you have any queries. Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy. Further information is in the application for to help guide you. 
  • You will need to undergo employment screening, what you require is also on the front page of the Role Description.
  • You must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
  • You must be registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
  • You must demonstrate participation in continuing medical education since attaining qualification in psychiatric medicine.
