Join SA Health as Director Operations, Aboriginal Health and spearhead meaningful change in healthcare delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across South Australia. This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to shape culturally appropriate health services while working directly with communities, healthcare teams, and key stakeholders to eliminate health disparities. Based in Adelaide CBD with a competitive package and contract security until February 2027, this position combines operational excellence with genuine community impact.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Executive Director - Aboriginal Health , some of your duties for the role will include:

  • Manage communication and liaison with project partners and key stakeholders within SALHN Aboriginal Health and other Divisions
  • Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers
  • Utilise cultural acumen and provide advice to Health units and/or clinical divisions on cultural issues that may affect Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander consumers
  • Provide guidance and support for Karpa Ngarrattendi team members, the Aboriginal Health project team, direct supervision to Administration coordinator and assist in developing new Social and Emotional Wellbeing, and Aboriginal Family Birthing programs

About you:

  • Proven experience with scoping, planning, implementing, managing and evaluating projects within allocated budgets and timeframes
  • Experience with the use and application of the Microsoft Office Suite of programs including: MS Word and MS Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise, consult and engage in a culturally sensitive manner with the Aboriginal community, individuals and families with proven commitment to improving outcomes for Aboriginal people
  • Ability to provide effective and sensitive advice and assistance to people experiencing multiple barriers to Health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide analytical commentaries and consultancy services to staff at all levels
