About the role

The Nurse Examiner delivers specialised nursing care for people impacted by sexual assault, including assessment, ongoing support, and court evidence. The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner ensures safe, lawful practice, collaborates with police and clinicians, and builds staff capability.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide clinical assessment, care, and forensic services to people who have been sexually assaulted
  • Facilitate and conduct ongoing care for consumers who have been sexually assaulted
  • Coordinate services with other disciplines or agencies to meet health care needs
  • Provide timely and comprehensive medico-legal reports
  • Ensure nurses are appropriately skilled and provide quality clinical services

Skills and Experience

  • Registered Nurse with at least 5 years post registration experience
  • Experience working with sexual assault victims
  • Post-graduate training in clinical forensic medicine/nursing or evidence of enrolment in current training and/or significant work experience in the area.
  • Ability to relate easily and comfortably with people in crisis
  • Experience in sexual health and women’s health
