About the role: 

As a Clinical Nurse you will report to the Team Manager and Head of Unit to provide mental health nursing services in the community mental health team over a 7 day roster.

The Clinical Nurse undertakes clinical care coordination as part of the multi-disciplinary team within the Specialist Community Mental Health Service. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for the delivery of a range of clinical activities, including mental health and psychosocial assessments, risk assessments, treatment and care planning, therapeutic interventions, advocacy and liaison with other community service providers.  The position works over a 7 day roster on each early and late shifts in a community setting.

As the Clinical Nurse duties for the role will include:

  • Developing and monitoring patient/client care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes are achieved on a daily basis
  • Providing proficient, person centred, clinical nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients in a defined clinical area
  • Participating in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience
  • Planning and coordinating services within the multi-disciplinary team
  • Acting as a resource person within an area based on knowledge, experience and skills

About you:

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines, whilst working under minimal supervision
  • Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and holds a current practicing certificate
  • Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice
  • Demonstrated competence in Mental Health nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards

To be considered for the RN2C (Clinical Nurse) level you must have at least three years, full time equivalent, post registration experience with experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses.
