Are you an endorsed Nurse Practitioner with a passion for advanced emergency care? Mount Gambier District Health Service is seeking a highly skilled and autonomous Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner to deliver expert clinical care and contribute to innovation, education and leadership within our Emergency Department.

About the Role

The Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner (EDNP) provides advanced clinical nursing care within a defined scope of practice, working both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

You will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and management of patients, including initiating diagnostics, prescribing medications, implementing therapeutic interventions and facilitating admission or discharge. In addition to direct patient care, the role contributes to service development, education, research and professional leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge planning within endorsed Nurse Practitioner scope
  • Initiate and interpret diagnostic investigations, prescribe medications and implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, clinical protocol development and risk management processes within the Emergency Department
  • Provide clinical leadership, education, mentoring and consultancy to nursing, medical and allied health staff

What You’ll Bring

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Master’s Degree in Emergency Nursing (or equivalent specialty qualification)
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical expertise and autonomous decision-making in emergency care
  • Strong leadership, communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
