About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is responsible for providing clinical services of the highest possible standard to children and families of the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network in inpatient, outpatient, community and child protection settings. 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Working harmoniously with all members of the clinical team,
  • Being responsive to the expectations and needs of both clinical and non-clinical colleagues,
  • Providing appropriate specialist respiratory level care to patients,
  • Attending consulting clinics as scheduled at SALHN sites,
  • Coordinating the follow up care of patients,
  • Providing appropriate clinical care to Paediatric respiratory patients, including those with child protection concerns and vulnerabilities,
  • Working as a Respiratory Consultant in the acute inpatient setting at Flinders Medical Centre caring for acutely unwell children,
  • Providing clinical supervision to Senior Medical Practitioners, Trainee Medical Officers and Medical Students 

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award,
  • Demonstrated excellence in delivering clinical care to a wide range of acute and ambulatory paediatric respiratory and sleep clinical presentations,
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including colleagues, other professional staff, children and their families,
  • A commitment to providing a quality service to patients and their families,
  • High level skills in problem solving and decision making,
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team,
  • Good teaching skills and ability to act as a role model for students and junior medical staff,
  • Clinical experience and competence in the practice of Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, including outpatient and community settings,
  • Proven experience in delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the National Safety and Quality Health Care Service Standards. (Mandatory for all clinical positions.) 
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills,
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education
