About the role

The Play Therapist supports children by delivering appropriate play therapy programs that reduce stress and trauma. Working closely with families and multidisciplinary teams, the role provides safe, engaging environments where children can express emotions while supporting parental involvement.

Key duties of the role

  • Plan, implement, and document play therapy programs
  • Provide a safe, engaging environment and creating a pleasant, positive atmosphere.
  • Involve and empower parents and carers
  • Evaluate and document both individual patient and group play therapy programs
  • Perceive any special needs of children and parents through play therapy

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in working with children and adolescents
  • Experience in developing play therapy programmes for individuals or groups
  • Ability to identify the needs of children and their families
  • Ability to think creatively, use initiative, be flexible and self-motivated
  • Knowledge of typical child development
