An exciting opportunity is available to support access to care for South Australians experiencing drug and alcohol related issues, while further developing your professional skills, experience, and system knowledge within the friendly and supportive team environment of Drug and Alcohol Services South Australia (DASSA).

About the role:

Reporting to the Director Clinical Partnerships, your role will be responsible for a range of DASSA activities that aim to maximise the capacity of GPs and practice staff to provide best practice care for people with drug use disorders and related problems (with an emphasis on opioid pharmacotherapies) in the most appropriate setting.

Duties for this role include:  

  • Contribute to maximising the working relationship between DASSA, community GPs and non-government organisations involved in the care of people with drug use disorders.
  • Contribute to the recruitment of GPs into drug and alcohol work with a particular emphasis on the prescription of opioid pharmacotherapies.
  • Provide input into policies, procedures and interventions across DASSA that involve GPs in the community,
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the education, training and information provided to general practitioners regarding drug and alcohol issues.

About you:

  • Ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels and to facilitate constructive and cooperative relationships with individuals and groups from within and outside of the public service,
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining work-related networks using a variety of communication e.g. face to face, telephone, email, fax, mail,
  • Knowledge of the principles of primary health care and harm minimisation and the relevance to drug and alcohol issues,
  • Experience in education and training (Please note: delivery of education and training activities requiring clinical subject matter expertise is provided by DASSA clinicians).
