About the role

Provides technical expertise within the Children’s Sleep Disorders Unit, conducting and analysing sleep studies, maintaining equipment and consumables, supporting accreditation and record management, and assisting in staff training, working varied shifts to meet clinical demand.

Key duties of the role

  • Safely conducting sleep studies (PSG), using computerised physiological data acquisition and recording equipment.
  • Ensuring the performance of sleep studies meet quality and safety standards.
  • Training of staff and students in polysomnographic techniques.
  • Administrative support to assist the day to day functioning of the Sleep Disorders Unit.
  • Support and actively participate in a positive and innovative team work culture, and promote safe work practices within the Sleep Disorders Unit.

Skills and Experience

  • A Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a relevant technical discipline. Note that employees without the required qualifications who are already working in such positions, at the TGO1 and above levels are eligible to apply and compete for these positions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in particular verbally, with the public, co-workers and all levels of medical staff and able to establish a rapport with children and parents. 
  • The ability to work under pressure within predetermined guidelines with limited supervision and ability to set work priorities and reset priorities in the light of unexpected changes in work circumstances.
  • Experience in working as part of a multidisciplinary team including medical, nursing, technical, research and clerical staff.
