About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is responsible for providing clinical services of the highest possible standard to Mental Health Service Division patients, both in terms of individual performance and by providing clinical leadership and contribution to a multidisciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Commitment to the provision of a multidisciplinary approach to clinical care,
  • Providing appropriate specialist level care to patients,
  • Coordinating the follow up care of patients,
  • Providing clinical supervision to Senior Medical Practitioners, Trainee Medical Officers and Medical Students,
  • Contributing to an after-hours on-call service in accordance with a roster agreed by the Department Director,
  • Participating in the development of clinical guidelines and protocols,
  • Attending and participating in clinical and departmental meetings,

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration (Psychiatry); or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award,
  • Demonstrated high standard of clinical practice in Psychiatry,
  • Demonstrated professional integrity, leadership and motivational skills,
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team,
  • Demonstrated participation in approved continuing medical education since attaining specialist qualification,
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement
  • Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff,
  • Extensive clinical experience relevant to work in Psychiatry
  • Experience in a broad range of medical fields relevant to the practice of emergency medicine
