About the Role

This role is 2 days a week on Thursdays and Fridays working 0800-1700 inside the Lyell McEwin SA Pathology Collection Centre, working a long side a 2nd RN and a small phlebotomy team. There is no expectation for weekend or public holiday work.  

As a Registered Nurse – Specimen Collection, you’ll play an important part in delivering high-quality, compassionate and professional care to every patient you support. In this role, you will provide expert nursing services across phlebotomy, venesections, specimen collection and data management, and the day-to-day operations of the Lyell McEwin Collection Centre. You’ll put your clinical knowledge into practice, assessing individual needs, planning and implementing appropriate care, and contributing to quality activities within the pathology setting. As your experience grows, you will consolidate your skills and develop from a novice practitioner to a confident, proficient clinician, taking ownership of your own standards of care while embracing continuous learning and development.

You will be a valued member of the Phlebotomy Team, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the service through excellent clinical practice, strong customer service and sound clinical governance. With a holistic approach to complex situations, you’ll make informed, confident decisions while advocating for consumers and supporting safe, person-centred care. You’ll also provide guidance to other staff including training and development, assist with competency assessments, and help develop procedures to manage challenging behaviours. About You
You are a registered nursing professional who brings strong clinical capability, excellent customer service skills and the confidence to work across all areas of Patient Services.

  • Registered (or eligible) with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia, with proven competence in relevant nursing practice.

  • Strong customer service focus, delivering timely, positive support with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Confident using digital systems, with the flexibility to work effectively across all Patient Services areas.

  • A collaborative team member with sound knowledge of quality control systems in pathology collection and a commitment to consistently high standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a small team
