About the Role:

As a Nephrology Nurse Practitioner Candidate, you will provide expert clinical nursing care within the Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network’s renal and dialysis services. Working under the supervision of an authorised Nurse Practitioner and/or medical staff, you will develop your capacity for extended practice through clinical exposure, post-graduate study, and mentoring. Your role may include providing clinical leadership to nurses and midwives, coordinating projects or programs to improve service delivery, and contributing specialist knowledge to enhance patient outcomes. You will be accountable for your nursing practice, professional advice, delegated tasks, and ensuring consistency with policy, all while progressing toward full Nurse Practitioner scope of practice in nephrology care.

About You:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate; AND
  • Hold a postgraduate qualification in a specialist nursing field relevant to their advanced nursing practice area AND
  • Have completed, or be prepared to enrol in and complete, a Nursing and Midwifery Board approved Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner).
  • Have a minimum of four years full-time equivalent experience as a Registered Nurse, including a minimum of two years full-time equivalent (FTE) experience as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department and a minimum of two years full-time equivalent (FTE) experience at an advanced nursing practice level in the Emergency Department, within the last six years.
  • Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing and or midwifery practice in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • Experience in the supervision of students, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses and or midwives.
