The Aboriginal Family Birthing Program supports Aboriginal women, and women with a baby that identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, through pregnancy, birth and early parenting. As an AMIC Practitioner, you will provide culturally safe antenatal, birthing and postnatal care, support families in navigating services, and strengthen links between community, Aboriginal Health teams and mainstream maternity care.

Gawler Health Service provides a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services to patients from Gawler and surrounding communities including the Lower North and Barossa Valley. Gawler Health Service has two Obstetrics & Gynaecology specialists, a senior specialist doctor, and Midwives ensuring 24-hour a day high-quality care. We offer the best of a country health working environment within close proximity to metropolitan Adelaide.
HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE?
- Provide culturally safe antenatal, birthing and postnatal support for women and families
- Facilitate access to community, health and social supports, strengthening care pathways
- Work collaboratively with midwives, doctors and Aboriginal Health teams to support safe care
- Advocate for culturally safe practice, offering cultural insight, education and guidance to staff
