About the Role:

Join our dedicated team within the Acute Surgical Unit (ASU) as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager, where you have the opportunity to advance your nursing leadership career.

In this role, you will support the Nurse Unit Manager in overseeing a busy acute surgical ward, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient ward operations. You will lead a skilled nursing team, coordinate patient flow and contribute to clinical governance initiatives that enhance patient outcomes.

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced registered nurse ready to take on a leadership role. The ASU is closely located to the Operating Theatre Complex and provides care for surgical patients presenting via a non-elective route. The ASU provides a 24-hour, 7 day a week assessment and management service for all emergency general surgery patients referred to the ASU. The ASU is responsible for acute assessment of surgical patients requiring a direct admission from any other health service, including Modbury Hospital.

The ASU comprises:

  • 21 inpatient beds
  • a quick access clinic, with the ability to see up to 8 patients per day
  • a see and treat consultation room consisting of 2 chair spaces

To be eligible for this position, you must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
