About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in the Infectious Diseases Unit, you will work closely with Nurse Consultants and other members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. This role primarily supports patients in an ambulatory and outpatient setting, where you will have the opportunity to educate and empower patients, coordinate complex care during clinical appointments, and collaborate with medical, nursing, and pharmacy colleagues. With a strong focus on hospital avoidance through specialist outpatient services, you will contribute to ensuring patients receive safe, timely and effective care.

Your role will be diverse and rewarding, encompassing a mix of clinical practice and service improvement. You may perform venepuncture, ECGs, wound dressings, intravenous line management, immunisations, and apply your knowledge in blood borne viruses and sexual health. In addition, you will support projects and programs that enhance patient outcomes, while embracing accountability for your practice, professional advice, and delegated care. This is a chance to make a real impact by providing expert nursing care in a supportive and collaborative environment where quality of service and patient wellbeing are at the heart of everything you do.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring clinical expertise, a strong commitment to patient-centred care and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic healthcare team.

  • Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nursing Board of Australia, supported by at least 3 years post-registration experience.
  • Well-developed communication, problem solving and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families and colleagues.
  • Proven experience in providing leadership, mentoring and direction to less experienced nurses and students within the clinical setting.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing standards, healthcare legislation and quality improvement systems, combined with a flexible and innovative approach to clinical practice.
